Barkstall Dress Code Guidelines
Barkstall Elementary School has a standardized dress code for students in Grades K-5. All students are expected to follow the designated dress code guidelines.
TOPS
Acceptable Colors: Solid colors of White, Navy, or Cardinal Red
All tops must cover mid-section.
Barkstall spiritwear can be worn any day of the week.
SHIRTS/BLOUSES
All blouses and shirts must have complete short or long sleeves (no slits or skimpy cap sleeves).
All shirts/blouses must have a collar.
Acceptable: Polo shirts; turtlenecks; dress shirts with buttons; blouses with simple straight or Peter Pan collars.
SWEATERS/SWEATSHIRTS
Acceptable: Pullover, v-neck, cardigan, zip-up, or button-up sweater.
JACKETS/COATS
Any winter coat can be worn to school but must be taken off inside the school building.
Light jackets can be worn inside the classroom but hoods must remain down.
Light jackets have to be a solid color of white, navy, or cardinal red or Barkstall jacket.
BOTTOMS/JUMPERS
Acceptable Colors: Solid color of Navy, Black, or Khaki Tan
PANTS/SHORTS
Not Acceptable: jeans, sweatpants, nylon wind suit pants, or rolling-up the pant leg.
SKIRTS/SKORTS/JUMPERS*
Not Acceptable: knit jersey fabric, leather, suede
*Shorts/Skirts/Skorts and Jumpers should fall at or longer than fingertip length
ACCESSORIES
BELTS (optional) - if worn must be solid color of black, brown/tan, or navy.
SHOES
Plain tennis shoes or street shoes (loafers, ie. Mary Janes)
Not acceptable: Flashing/light up shoes, rolling type shoes, Cowboy/Girl boots, Crocs, sandals, flip-flops, slides, or high-heeled shoes.
Snow boots or Rain boots can be worn to school but must be removed once inside the building and tennis/street shoes must be put on for wear during the school day.
SOCKS or TIGHTS
Acceptable colors: White, Navy, Black, Brown, Khaki Tan, or Red.
Solid colors only – no patterns or stripes
ACCESSORIES (such as backpacks, patches, jewelry, and notebooks) must not display racial or ethnic slurs or symbols; gang affiliations; suggestive language or images; nor should they promote products which students may not legally buy, such alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs.
RECYCLING DRESS CODE CLOTHING
Once your student has outgrown their “Barkstall” clothes, please consider donating back to the school for our “Used Clothing Resale”.
